💉 I Took a Week (and a Half… Kinda) Off Zepbound — and Here’s What Happened

Two weeks ago, I realized I’d used my last 5mg Zepbound pen but still had a 2.5mg dose left. I figured that would hold me over while I refilled my prescription at CVS on Wilkinson Blvd — my “comfort pharmacy.”

You know the kind. Not the fastest. Not the most polished. But it’s home. The techs look like my cousins, the clientele sounds like my neighborhood, and even when it’s slow, there’s a sense of familiarity that feels safe.

But this week? That pharmacy broke my heart.

🏪 The Pharmacy Fiasco

I went to pick up my refills on Thursday, October 23, expecting everything to be ready. And everything was ready… except my Zepbound.

The tech told me they were out of stock and it would be in tomorrow. Cool — I could deal with that. Friday came. No text. Saturday? Still “in progress.” By Monday, I walked in like, “Surely y’all just forgot to hit send.” Nope. Still out. Still “processing.”

I didn’t get my “ready for pickup” text until Thursday, October 30 — one whole week without Zepbound, following a week of half-doses. That’s basically a two-week gap.

I’m not mad. I’m just disappointed. (Okay… maybe a little mad.)

📊 The Data Doesn’t Lie

Because I track everything with my Apple Watch and my FitIndex smart scale, I had numbers to show what happened.

  • October 17: 256.8 lbs (the day of my last 2.5 mg dose)

  • October 24: 252.2 lbs (start of my first week without Zepbound)

  • October 30: 254.2 lbs

Even though I was moving more than ever, my weight bounced around like a playlist on shuffle — up, down, up again.

And when I say “moving more,” I mean it. I took over a friend’s entire dog-walking clientele while she was out of town.

  • Monday: 9,686 steps (3.7 miles)

  • Tuesday: 16,998 steps (6.6 miles)

  • Wednesday: 11,722 steps (4.5 miles)

🍽️ The Body Check-In

I wasn’t starving or suddenly craving drive-thru food — but I definitely got snack-y. The good news? My accessible food was healthy. I made these Asian-style green beans that were crunchy, garlicky, and borderline addictive. We tore them up.

Energy-wise, I stayed pretty steady. I tried to nap a couple times but couldn’t. Night sleep was fine (the rain helped). Emotionally, I wasn’t spiraling — just a little bummed that I didn’t have that “Zepbound push” during a week when I was clocking crazy steps.

🧘🏾♀️ Routine vs. Reality

My daily water, meds, and walks stayed strong. I’ll admit, stretching and kettlebell workouts didn’t happen as often — but this morning’s Cat-Cow stretch felt amazing. After proving my walking game is strong, I decided to spend today perfecting my other skill: laying around. Balance.

💡 Lessons Learned

After a week and a half of frustration and delayed texts, I switched pharmacies. It hurt a little — I wasn’t ready to break up with my “comfort CVS” — but I transferred my prescription to a hospital-based pharmacy that’s better stocked. My mom uses it too, so now I can sync our pickups.

The bigger lesson, though, wasn’t about where I fill my meds — it’s about what’s filling me.

The habits are sticking. I’m walking even when it hurts. I’m drinking sink water — or “pipe juice,” as I call it — and enjoying it. I’m wearing down sneakers, but also breaking in consistency.

Wellness isn’t just chemical. It’s behavioral. The shot helps, but I’m the one doing the walking.

💬 The Takeaway

Missing a dose didn’t undo my progress. It just reminded me that I’m not outsourcing my discipline.

The power of Zepbound compels me — but I’m the one walking in the rain.
