The Legacy of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc.

Founded on September 19, 1963, at Morgan State University, Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. emerged during one of the most transformative periods in American history. As the Civil Rights Movement reshaped the nation, the founders created a brotherhood rooted in leadership, scholarship, and meaningful community impact.

Decades later, the fraternity would officially become the ninth member of the National Pan-Hellenic Council in 1997, completing what is now known as the Divine Nine.
